We’ve all been there. Whether we did it to ourselves with an overzealous purchase or we were gifted a ‘charming’ little number, we’ve all got some doozies in our jewelry box that haven’t seen the light of day since the moment they were purchased. What was last season’s IT piece has now become this season’s worst nightmare but it was too pricey to trash or maybe there’s sentimental value in your ‘special piece’ but try as you may, you just cant seem to toss it. Well now you dont have to thanks to our new best friend, NAIL POLISH. That’s right kiddies, we’re revamping in true repurposing style and all with items that are already at your finger tips. So grab that trashy gift, your favorite shades of little piggie laquer and Lets Do The DIY Thang, shall we?
First and foremost, grab some scotch tape. Yes, we know it’s a random request but there’s nothing better to work out your color combos on than this clear, adhesive little wonder. Your number of shades will vary as much as your little canvas and by painting the scotch tape with your desired color concepts before putting them on said canvas allows you to try out your options before fully committing. We used bright summer shades that we received as gifts and since the earrings themselves were also, naturally they were a perfect fit but with all of the color options out there in the nail varnish world, your possibilities are endless. With the paint and the brush all together in one, this is one of the fastest and all inclusive DIY projects we’ve ever had the pleasure of getting our hands on. Remember, as each canvas varies, so will the opacity of your polish so start with 1 coat at a time, allowing them to dry completely before moving on. To finish and protect the color, cover each painted item with a clear top coat. Some polishes have a matte finish and if you wish to keep this look, make sure to use either a matte finish clear polish or simply leave as is. (Just be careful when tossing them back in the jewelry box) VOILA! You’re old tacky pieces are now spot on trend setters and all with items you already had in your possession. A brand new bauble for the price of nothin’ but your time? If only we could work out that same kinda deal with Tiffany’s.
